Web Accessibility- The New Cool on the World Wide Web!

If you need something on the internet, you would probably open your browser, go to Google and enter your search query. You scan through the results and go to the ones that you think are right. There's no rocket science involved here. However, imagine the same scenario for someone with disabilities.

Your site maybe be great- with really wonderful content, flashy graphics- and you might boast of a million users- but are you sure that each and every person who uses the internet can access all features of your site?

Love That Never Dies!

Look into my eyes - you'll see
What you mean to me.
Search your heart, search your soul
And when you find me there ...
And Sammy went on singing in our living room in front of the small gathering. It was 2 years into our marriage and more than 7 years into our relationship, but his singing still made me blush like a schoolgirl. It was our second marriage anniversary, the 5th of October 2013, and a few of our close friends and relatives came to our house to celebrate the special day and make our day even more special.

Go Nuts in Hawaii

It is just one night that makes your whole life worth it. Just one occasion that makes you feel like a queen or king. A single event which changes your life forever... of course, for the better. In fact, for the best!

Yes, it is marriage. A marriage to someone is not just about vowing to have a family together but, it is a bond of the mind, body and soul. And a perfect trip with one’s beloved is what all one could wish for. In this materialistic world today, it is true people are very career-oriented and ambitious but, deep down in their hearts they always crave for their perfect someone. Everyone needs someone who can make them whole and give a true meaning to their lives and a purpose to their existence. So what better place to go on a vacation with your better half than the French Polynesia and Hawaii. My dream trip would be as follows.

Paul Theorox rightly says:
Hawaii is not a state of mind but, a state of grace.
This journey is meant to make you fall for your beau all over again and fall in love with the places as well. Romance is best experienced in the midst of flawless Mother Nature. Nature celebrates your love and makes it even more special.

Hence, my husband and I planned a momentous trip to Hawaii. And believe me, it was elysium for us there! The blue seas, gorgeous landscape and the unique arrangements made it all the more worthwhile.
Isn't this just the best place ever to stay with your beloved?
Ravishing landscape
We passed our days by sunset watching, relaxing on the deserted white sands, going on jeep safaris on island tours. The rain forests and numerous streams are rejuvenating to the eyes. We did not even realize how the time passed and it was time for us to leave!
Magnificent Hawaii
"The Earth has music for those who listen." - George Santayana
Hawaii is indeed exclusive when it comes to climate and terrain. Whether you are in the romantic mood or in the adventurous one - Hawaii has it all stored up! From snow-capped mountains to black sand beaches and volcanic deserts to dense rain forests, Hawaii is surely something to be reckoned with.
"I love this place and could willingly waste my time in it." - William Shakespeare
The perfect sunset
We went for a tour across the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The picture says it all...

Coming back to the story, Tahiti and her islands along with Hawaii is the best deal anyone could bet on! And romance and natural beauty is not the end of the story. This trip provided us immense pleasure through water sports. The clear azure waters are perfect for scuba diving, kite surfing, yachting or just a glide on the blue waters. We were absolutely refreshed by outrigger canoeing, jet skiing, swimming, deep sea fishing, sailing, shark and ray feeding. The aquatic fauna will make you love the place even more.

Mother-of-pearl shell carvings, vanilla beans, monoi oils, black pearls, shell leis and coconut and tiare soaps are the highlights in Tahiti. And the pearls both in Tahiti and Hawaii are to die for! My husband gifted me an exquisite pearl ring.

The radiant ring!
No trip to a place is complete without tasting its local cuisine. And our trip was no different. We became total gluttons there. The food is just wonderful... Also, the tropical drinks, a Hawaiian culture, are delectable. It is not just the taste of the cuisine alone that caught our attention but, also the way it is presented.
La la la... food all the way!

Tropical drinks unlimited!
I am sure each one of us had our fair share of fairy tales and the magic associated with them when we were children. Every story no matter how long or twisted or sad it is, all had one thing in common - an idyllic place where everyone lived and the magic that came with the place. I am of the view that the creators of such stories were inspired by Nature and her 'Magic'. It is the landscape and all the flora and fauna that make it magical. The purity of Nature was always portrayed in all the fairy tales. Don't you think readers that, such a trip to heavenly places is a fairy tale in itself? What more, you can experience the magic all around you on such a trip like we did! The graceful and dramatic landscape will enliven you...

Lastly, all I have to say is, "Hallelujah Nature! Hallelujah Love!!"

For The Love Of Coffee

Coffee… Ah! The most precious memories of my life are associated with coffee. It was two years back. I was no less than a perfect nerd with huge spectacles on my small face, messy hair and chubby appearance. It was in the month of May. Cupid had finally found me!

Be the Perfect Guide

I have always been an avid reader. From political to beauty, I read books on anything that catches my attention. Recently, I came across a beautiful article in the book ‘Chicken Soup for the Indian Soul’. Written by Raksha Bharadia, the piece “The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The tree” is an eye-opener for everyone. It is as follows.

The bottle and the quarter

You got me the worst vodka ever!
My girlfriend told me, with a frown. She had finished a whole Romanov bottle, almost neat and apparently didn't feel even a little bit high! I don't drink, neither do I stay with people when they drink- this was the first time I had witnessed something like this. So there was no way I could have seen it coming.

My Saviour

I have a record of headaches and dizziness. I have also fainted more than 10 times since childhood. Once when I was in the third standard, at a tender age of eight, I was hospitalized for a severe headache…
With the increasing pressure in studies, my parents and I thought this was just another stress-related problem. I had to wear glasses also. Hence, it was thought to contribute to my headaches too. When I was in Class VII, I passed out six times in just four months. Once when I was taken to the doctor for a check-up on the day I passed out, the doctor stated that had I not gained consciousness for a few seconds more that day, I would not have survived! That was a blow straight to the heart for my family and me as well. I had to go through a series of rigorous check-up procedures. They basically tested for migraine which was negative. So they came to the conclusion that my blood pressure had the tendency to dip suddenly and hence, the sudden headaches and dizziness.
I went about with my life… topped school and my region in the board examinations of Class X, fared quite well in Class XII. I am presently pursuing English Honors from Delhi University. It so happened that one day, I passed out during a lecture after an extremely painful headache caught hold of me. I was given glucose drinks, lots of water, painkillers to kill the headache and I was back to normal in a few hours. But these headaches and dizziness did not stop. It went on – proving to be my greatest drawback in my career!
Recently, I stumbled across My Healthy Speak Blog. I was going through the posts there and in every post, there was one thing in common – the advice to take health issues seriously, no matter how minor the matter might seem. It was an eye-opener for me. I asked my doctor to make me go through a thorough health check-up.

Ultimately, the problem of my headache and dizziness was nailed. It was Vertigo – a not so uncommon health condition which usually develops with age. Thus, I was saved! It is a subtype of dizziness, usually associated with nausea, vomiting and unsteadiness while standing. However, it is the cause that differentiates it from other types of dizziness- it is caused by issues with the inner ear.

I am currently under medication and hope to get well soon.
Had it not been for My Healthy Speak Blog, I would still have been suffering.

The Little Things

Here are the little things that I cherished back in those good old days when I loved braiding my hair!

The "Flash" Horse:
Age Group: 2-5 years
This is something that I inherited from my mother. There is a story behind how she brought it home. Apparently, on a trip to Kolkata, she had developed this stubbornness of buying this horse which was as tall as her. With great difficulty, it was somehow fitted into the train, and she held on to it for the whole journey. Needless to say, it was pretty important to me as well, especially when I came to know of its origins. Unfortunately, it was lost when my grandparents switched places, and was quietly forgotten.
