Confessions of the Shy Soul #2- Date Número Uno

Here is the continuation of the earlier post, which can be found here.

My second longest meal. And believe me, it was painful as well. You can find what my longest meal was by reading the previous post. Coming back to this day, everyone else in my family seemed to enjoy the food this restaurant had to provide. It was a good looking buffet, but the only thing that inspired me was the vanilla ice cream at the end(I took at least five scoops of that). And why not, we were paying over five hundred bucks per head for that meal. I agree I might be exaggerating a bit, but I believe that was the reason I vowed never to visit this 'Indian styled jungle themed' restaurant again.

The Eternal Bond: My entry for the Get Published contest

It was a bad idea- my mind kept telling me the moment it started ringing. I thought I should hang up, but then, it would come up as a missed call and she would eventually inquire about the reason of my call. What made matters worse was that I had also sent a text shortly before calling saying I would call. That wait seemed like eternity, but in a few hours time, I was about to truly understand what the last phrase actually means.

The Young Minds of the 21st Century

I have written this in the order of decreasing order of commonness, with #1 the easiest to find, and #6 being the rarest...

#1: The Wannabe

One would see this kind everywhere and anywhere. Statements like “I bought a diamond ring yesterday”, “Do you know the latest collection in Puma is so amazing and costly! I bought a backpack for myself”, are very common to them. One would also see them bitching about the famous few in their colleges and schools. They would act as if they are the “hot and happening” crowd. This kind of crowd is not limited to the younger genre of the society but, is visible also among the working group. Most people mature as they grow old. But some of them never learn. An exotic few of this kind tend to be liars (and kleptomaniacs) as well!

#2: The Crazy Few

They are not made of bad morale. But they are kind of half-witted. They seldom know what is happening around them. They take risks so great that people call them fools. They hardly care about their grades and are least bothered about their lives. Only thing that matters to them is – friends and fun.

Here goes a story that a stranger shared with me

There are things I haven't told to anyone, but I want to get them off my chest, and confessing them in front of a total stranger is a perfect opportunity to do so. To begin with, let me introduce myself a bit. I'm a guy in my early 20s. An engineering student at a college in North India. I've been a topper nearly throughout my life, in school and then in the college. Both my parents are very educated and wanted me to exceed them in studies. So, there was this pressure from my parents' side to top every class and every bloody exam.

A Guide To Life

Many people think that they had or have a very tough life indeed- with stress, depression, hopelessness, frustration and what not dragging them down. But believe me! Each individual on this planet has their own set of problems in life. I agree some people go through more than some fortunate ones. However, it all depends on how a person handles any situation. I know it is tough to take any sensible decision in the heat of the moment; yet calmness can take you a long way...

A Dark Secret

Do you know how it feels to hear your father say to tell you, "I will kill you if necessary!"? Or how it feels to be beaten up so badly by your mother that your night-suit is torn to pieces? How it feels when your parents ask you to stop painting, playing badminton and the violin because if your result is affected, they wont have anything to show-off about?... Oh, the list can go on!

The Quasi-Static Fact In Almost Every Indian School

Favoritism is practiced in all spheres of life, especially in schools; and our school was no exception. She was a new student who, apparently had no idea that it she would have to face it there again!(It is human nature to expect everything to be good if they change places like schools, colleges and localities)

The Unforgettable

Disclaimer: Based on true events. Names have been changed to protect the identities.

I met her when she changed schools five years ago; she was my junior. We had the same bus route on our way home. She took a great liking to me from the first day itself; even asking if I will be her sister(you know, the issue with Indian kids- they prefer to be 'siblings' rahter than friends...) I agreed and we became good friends. She would share every single detail about her life- right from her crushes to her relations and break-ups.
